Narendra Modi Meeting Resolves Bhayander East Land Dispute

A long-running land dispute in Bhayander East reached a resolution following a September 8 meeting between Narendra Modi and Asgarali Vohra, an 81-year-old former schoolmate of the Prime Minister. Vohra alleged that Seven Eleven Constructions and Swayam Builders, both linked to BJP MLA Narendra Mehta, used forged documents to encroach upon a 2,810 square metre plot in Navghar that Vohra had purchased in 1989.

Following the meeting, Maharashtra government authorities convened a session at Mantralaya chaired by the principal secretary to the chief minister. During these proceedings, Narendra Mehta agreed to relinquish possession of the disputed plot and surrender associated construction permissions. Seven Eleven Construction Private Limited subsequently surrendered its construction permit to the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation and requested a refund of its fees.

As part of the mutual settlement, Mehta and the construction firm moved to withdraw a 2015 police complaint and a 2025 FIR that accused Vohra and his associate, Ajay Dhokha, of criminal trespassing and intimidation. While the firm previously maintained it had legitimately purchased a portion of the land in 2019, the legal actions were dropped ahead of a scheduled municipal hearing on September 16.
