Willie Nelson Endorses James Talarico for U.S. Senate
Willie Nelson endorsed Democratic State Representative James Talarico for the U.S. Senate in Texas as Talarico campaigns against Republican Ken Paxton.
Country music legend Willie Nelson endorsed Democratic State Representative James Talarico for the U.S. Senate in Texas ahead of the November midterm elections. In a campaign video shared on social media, Nelson described Talarico as a "good man" who would be a "good senator for the state of Texas."
The endorsement follows a meeting between the two at Nelson's Fourth of July picnic in Austin earlier this year. Talarico is running for the seat against Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and has sought support from prominent musicians to expand his campaign reach across the state.
Nelson has a history of supporting Democratic candidates, including previous endorsements for Kamala Harris and Beto O’Rourke, as well as participating in a 2020 fundraiser for Joe Biden. Despite his support for Talarico, reports indicate Nelson did not endorse Democratic State Representative Gina Hinojosa in the current Texas gubernatorial race.
