Israeli Settlers Torch Homes and Block Court-Ordered Returns
Israeli settlers torched homes in Jalud and stormed Ramallah, forcing a Palestinian family from their property despite a Supreme Court order for their return.
More than 100 Israeli settlers attacked the village of Jalud in the West Bank on Tuesday, torching two homes and vehicles belonging to the Al-Tubasi family. The violence occurred as the family attempted to reclaim their property following a ruling by the Supreme Court of Israel. While the military initially escorted the family, settlers overwhelmed security forces by throwing rocks and slashing tires, eventually forcing the military to evacuate the family at gunpoint in an armored vehicle.
Simultaneous incursions occurred across the West Bank. In Ramallah, settlers stormed the town of Surda and the Al-Tireh area, blocking roads and hanging Israeli flags. Other attacks were reported in Qaryut, where an elderly woman was assaulted in her home, and in al-Mughayyir, where settlers torched property during a military raid. Three Israeli Border Police officers sustained light injuries during the Jalud clashes, and police arrested three individuals.
Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the violence but attributed it to a "handful of rioters" who do not represent the law-abiding settler community. President Isaac Herzog called the events a "moral stain." However, political challenger Gadi Eisenkot and the watchdog group Peace Now accused the government of fostering anarchy and backing organized terror militias. The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reported that settler attacks reached record levels in 2025, with 23,827 incidents against citizens and property.
