Trump Media Defends Paid API for Presidential Posts

Kevin McGurn, the interim CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group, defended the company's Truth API service on Monday. The service, launched August 1, sells faster access to President Donald Trump's Truth Social posts for as much as $100,000 per month.

McGurn reported that the number of customer agreements for the service has grown into the mid-teens. The company is pursuing the API as a new revenue stream following a second-quarter loss of $238 million.

The service has triggered legal action from The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Association. These organizations have sued President Trump, alleging the API violates the First and Fifth Amendments by allowing a private company linked to the president to profit from accelerated access to government information, particularly as the president uses the platform for market-moving policy announcements.
