Flavio Bolsonaro Leads Lula in Presidential Runoff Poll
Senator Flavio Bolsonaro holds a slight lead over President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in a Datafolha poll ahead of the October 25 runoff.
A Datafolha poll released Thursday indicates that Flavio Bolsonaro is slightly leading President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva as Brazil approaches the October 25 presidential runoff. In the simulated scenario, the Brazilian Senator and eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro holds 49% of the vote, while President Lula holds 45%.
Despite the lead, the result is a technical tie because of a plus-minus 2 percentage point margin of error. The survey was conducted in-person between October 6 and 7 among 2,520 respondents. An additional 5% of those surveyed indicated they would cast a blank vote, and 1% remain undecided.
This polling follows a first-round vote on Sunday where the younger Bolsonaro unexpectedly led the president. The runoff will determine the next president of Brazil.
