Republicans Lead All Texas Statewide Races in New Poll

A poll released August 4 by the Barbara Jordan Public Policy Research and Survey Center at Texas Southern University shows Republican candidates leading in all Texas statewide races by margins exceeding the margin of error. The survey, conducted among 1,200 likely voters from July 27 to 30, indicates a consistent trend favoring Republicans ahead of the November election.

Greg Abbott leads Democratic challenger Gina Hinojosa by 6 percentage points, with 49% to 43% support. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick holds a 7-point lead over Democrat Vikki Goodwin, while Republican State Senator Mayes Middleton leads Democrat Nathan Johnson by 5 points in the race for attorney general.

Republican leads extend to other statewide offices. Don Huffines leads Sarah Eckhardt by 7 points for comptroller, Dawn Buckingham leads Benjamin Flores by 5 points for land commissioner, and Bo French leads Jon Rosenthal by 3 points for railroad commissioner.
