Donald Trump Discloses 1,156 Securities Transactions for July
President Donald Trump disclosed over 1,100 securities transactions in July totaling up to $270 million, including major sales of tech and gaming stocks.
President Donald Trump disclosed 1,156 securities transactions conducted on his behalf during July, with total values ranging between $79 million and $270 million. The filings, released by the US Office of Government Ethics, reveal a broad reshuffling of his portfolio, including the sale of up to $31 million in Microsoft shares and $26 million in Amazon shares. Other divestments included holdings in Meta Platforms, Alphabet, and Nvidia, though the president also purchased Nvidia shares.
Trading activity extended to the gaming and entertainment sectors, with sales of shares in VICI Properties, Sphere Entertainment, and Rush Street Interactive. Notably, the president sold shares of Caesars Holdings, Inc. as the company prepares for a $17.6 billion acquisition by Fertitta Entertainment, a company led by U.S. Ambassador to Italy and San Marino Tilman Fertitta. Additionally, the disclosures show the president bought and sold shares in SpaceX, a U.S. military contractor.
White House spokesman Davis Ingle stated that the portfolio is independently managed by third-party financial institutions using computer-based model portfolios to replicate recognized indexes. Reports indicate the high volume of trading—which follows a similar trend from June—is driven by a daily tax-loss harvesting strategy to offset realized gains and reduce tax liability. This strategy also included the purchase of municipal bonds in Florida and Texas to optimize after-tax returns.
