U.S. and Mexico Conduct Joint Border Security Exercises

Armed forces from the United States and Mexico conducted joint security exercises on Thursday along the border near El Paso and Ciudad Juarez. The operation involved the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Mexican Army, and the Mexican National Guard.

During the exercises, police and military vehicles patrolled the Rio Grande while personnel descended from helicopters by rope. The demonstration took place in a region where the Juarez Cartel operates. The United States designated the Juarez Cartel as a terrorist group last month, alongside the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

These maneuvers follow increased pressure from Donald Trump for Mexico to reduce the flow of drugs and migrants into the United States.
