Elon Musk Regains Trillionaire Status After SpaceX Stock Surge

Elon Musk rejoined the trillionaire ranks on Monday following a surge in SpaceX shares and a successful Starship orbital flight.

Elon Musk regained trillionaire status on October 5, 2026, after a combined rise in Tesla and SpaceX stock added $30.6 billion to his net worth since Friday. The surge followed a successful first orbital trip of the Starship spacecraft and an assessment from Morgan Stanley that SpaceX shares were undervalued, pushing the stock price above $167.

Musk's current fortune now exceeds that of Jeff Bezos by more than $628 billion. Tesla stock also contributed to the gain, rising more than 1% after the company reported third-quarter delivery figures that beat forecasts.

In a separate move, Musk announced the renaming of the SpaceXAI subsidiary to SpaceXSI. This change aligns with a September 29 executive order from President Donald Trump, which requires government agencies to replace the term artificial intelligence with super intelligence or SI.
