Trump Administration Issues Limited-Edition Freedom 250 Social Security Cards
The Social Security Administration will issue commemorative Freedom 250 cards to infants born in the U.S. between July 2 and December 31, 2026.
The Social Security Administration will issue limited-edition Social Security cards to children born in the United States from July 2 through December 31, 2026. These commemorative cards feature the Freedom 250 logo in black ink to mark the nation's 250th anniversary. The cards maintain the same functionality as standard versions and are issued automatically at no additional cost through the Enumeration at Birth program.
Social Security Commissioner Frank J. Bisignano announced that the initiative celebrates the country's history and the creation of Social Security. He clarified that any replacement or duplicate cards issued in the future will revert to the standard design and will not feature the logo, regardless of the holder's birth date.
The program is part of a broader set of semiquincentennial celebrations led by Freedom 250, a public-private partnership created by the Trump administration to organize events like the Great American State Fair and the Salute to America celebration. This effort follows an April initiative by the State Department to offer passports bearing President Donald Trump's image. Other related programs include Trump Accounts for children born between 2025 and 2028. While Freedom 250 describes itself as nonpartisan, critics argue the group injects partisanship into the national anniversary celebrations.
