Donald Trump Proposes Presidential Retreat in West Palm Beach
Donald Trump proposed converting part of his West Palm Beach golf club into a permanent official presidential retreat modeled after Camp David.
President Donald Trump has proposed transforming a portion of his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, into a permanent official presidential retreat. Modeled after Camp David, the site would serve as a sanctuary for future U.S. presidents and foreign leaders to host international summits and presidential vacations.
Under the proposal submitted to the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners, Trump would fund the construction of the residence and facilities, while the county would provide the land to the federal government. Future presidents would also receive complimentary memberships to the club. A White House official noted that the property's security features and proximity to the Donald J. Trump International Airport make it a suitable location.
Palm Beach County Administrator Joseph Abruzzo confirmed the county is coordinating with the General Services Administration to evaluate the proposal. Legal counsel for the club described the project as a gift to Trump's successors, noting that construction would not be completed before he leaves office.
