Trump White House Ballroom Project Sparks Conflict of Interest Claims

President Donald Trump announced the construction of a 90,000-square-foot ballroom in the White House East Wing, a project estimated to cost between $250 million and $300 million. The facility is being funded by private donations from wealthy individuals and corporations, including tech giants like Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and Meta, as well as defense contractor Lockheed Martin Corp. Senator Richard Blumenthal has launched an inquiry into undisclosed donors, such as BlackRock and investor Jeffrey Yass, after reports indicated the White House allowed some contributors to remain anonymous. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the project, stating that private funding reduces the burden on taxpayers. President Trump has maintained that the project is necessary for state dinners and is being funded by friends, claiming it will be more beautiful than ever upon completion.
