Ecuador President Daniel Noboa Plans State Visit to China

President Daniel Noboa of Ecuador will conduct his first state visit to China from August 16 to 23, 2026. The visit, initiated by an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping, coincides with the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations. During the trip, Noboa is scheduled to hold talks with President Xi and meet with Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.

China intends for the visit to consolidate political mutual trust and advance a partnership already supported by a free trade agreement and Belt and Road cooperation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China announced the details of the diplomatic itinerary.

Prior to the China trip, Noboa received Omar Sultan Al Olama, the UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Quito on August 14. The leaders discussed bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence, innovation, and infrastructure. Al Olama expressed confidence that a forthcoming Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement will expand trade and investment opportunities. The UAE envoy also met with Ecuador's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, Roberto Kury, and other cabinet members to discuss energy security, water security, and humanitarian assistance.
