Prince Alois of Liechtenstein Visits India to Boost Trade

Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein is conducting a four-day state visit to India to strengthen investment and technology ties following a 2025 trade agreement.

The Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein is conducting a four-day state visit to India from October 25 to 28, 2026, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Accompanied by Hereditary Princess Sophie and a high-level business delegation, the Prince began his trip in Mumbai before traveling to Vadodara, Gujarat, to visit a company in Manjusar.

Upon arriving in New Delhi, Prince Alois received a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan and met with President Droupadi Murmu. His itinerary includes a wreath-laying ceremony at Rajghat and bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi at Hyderabad House. The discussions focus on trade, investment, science, technology, and global developments, specifically targeting investments in renewable energy, agriculture, financial services, and precision engineering.

The visit follows the 2025 operationalization of the India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement. India seeks to leverage Liechtenstein's financial capacity, particularly through the LGT Group, while addressing trade fluctuations that have seen bilateral exchange drop from a peak of US $9.4 billion in 2023-24 to between US $2-4 billion, partly due to the absence of a double taxation agreement.

In addition to the Prime Minister and President, Prince Alois is scheduled to meet with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary.
