Trump Forms Super Intelligence Force to Oversee AI
President Donald Trump established a White House task force to assess artificial intelligence risks and maintain U.S. leadership in superintelligence through voluntary industry safety principles.
President Donald Trump established the Super Intelligence Force, a White House task force tasked with assessing the risks and opportunities of artificial intelligence and defining the federal government's role in its oversight. The initiative follows a meeting between Trump and leaders from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Nvidia, during which industry participants agreed to voluntary safety principles, including third-party reviews and internal monitoring.
Chaired by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, the group has 120 days to deliver a report. The task force will examine existing laws, review government response capacities for AI-related breaches, and coordinate with industry stakeholders. Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson serves as a vice chair to oversee consumer interests.
Trump advocated for voluntary industry-led risk management over formal regulation to avoid hindering a technology he believes could be larger than the Industrial Revolution. The administration aims to ensure the United States remains a global leader in superintelligence while protecting national security and consumer interests.
