Trump Administration Removes 750,000 Enrollees From ACA Marketplaces
The Trump administration removed over 750,000 people from ACA health insurance marketplaces to save $2.2 billion in federal subsidies.
The administration of Donald Trump has removed more than 750,000 enrollees from the Affordable Care Act health insurance marketplaces. Vice President JD Vance announced the initiative, which the administration's fraud taskforce claims will save $2.2 billion annually by removing individuals who lack entitlement to federal subsidies.
This action follows previous subsidy cancellations that resulted in 3 million Americans losing health insurance. The move comes as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent works to reduce the budget deficit to 3% of GDP, even as the 2025 One Big Beautiful Bill Act is projected to add $4.1 trillion to the deficit over the next decade.
In a separate expansion of federal enforcement, United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced plans to hire 5,000 additional agents by the end of the year.
