Leftist Coalition Fuels Nationwide Riots Across France

A network of 54 leftist organizations sparked nationwide riots in France involving arson and looting, leading to 2,400 arrests over one weekend.

A network of 54 leftist organizations, including socialist movements, communist groups, and labor unions, has driven a wave of escalating riots across France. The unrest began as student demonstrations over rising living costs and deteriorating schools but evolved into a nationwide political revolt characterized by looting, arson, and violent clashes with police. During a single weekend, authorities made approximately 2,400 arrests, and protesters torched the Limoges city hall.

Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu have attributed the violence to ultra-left extremists and criminals. Intelligence investigations identify the far-left France Unbowed party as a primary driver of the student movement, while international networks linked to Marxist businessman Neville Roy Singham are credited with amplifying the unrest. The protests have converged with anti-Israel movements, with some participants waving Palestinian flags.

The unrest is expanding beyond French borders. A coalition of 28 communist and socialist youth organizations is preparing coordinated strikes and demonstrations across 12 European countries under the slogan “Fight for Our Future, Not Their Wars!” Additionally, Code Pink leader Jodie Evans has used the French violence to encourage similar protests in Washington, D.C.
