Donald Trump Reorganizes White House Amid Senior Staff Exodus

President Donald Trump is managing a significant exodus of senior staff during the second half of his second term. Within a single month, the administration lost White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Director of Legislative Affairs James Braid, Deputy National Security Adviser Andy Baker, and White House Counsel David Warrington.

These departures coincide with low approval ratings and external pressures, including a trade war with Canada and a conflict in Iran that has disrupted global energy markets. To stabilize the administration and prepare for the November midterm elections, Trump appointed Will Scharf as White House Counsel.

Trump also tasked Deputy Chief of Staff James Blair with leading the president's political operation. To manage midterm messaging and develop economic policy proposals focused on affordability, the administration is bringing back veteran advisers Jason Miller and Johnny DeStefano. These moves are intended to prepare the White House for the possibility of Democratic control of Congress following the elections.
