Justice Department Files Misconduct Complaint Against Minnesota Judges

The United States Department of Justice filed a judicial misconduct complaint on Wednesday against judges in Minnesota. The complaint stems from interviews the judges gave to the New York Times regarding an immigration surge, which the department alleges were unethical and partisan.

Attorney General Todd Blanche stated the interviews were a "clear violation of their ethical duties," arguing that the judges improperly commented on pending cases. The dispute follows statements made by the judges in September, during which they claimed the Trump administration threatened the rule of law and showed a "disregard for court orders."

In addition to the misconduct filing, the Justice Department requested that the judges recuse themselves from all cases involving the Department of Homeland Security, citing a bias against the administration.
