Atiku Abubakar Warns Against Militarization of Osun Election
Atiku Abubakar urged the Nigerian government and electoral commission to ensure transparency and avoid militarization during the Osun governorship election.
Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar warned the Independent National Electoral Commission and the administration of President Bola Tinubu against undermining the credibility of the Osun governorship election. Speaking at the African Democratic Congress National Youth Leadership Summit in Abuja, Atiku cautioned that current security deployments resemble preparations for war rather than a democratic exercise.
Atiku demanded the transparent transmission of results and the timely delivery of election materials, insisting that the process remain free of manipulation or mysterious glitches. He further urged President Tinubu to refrain from utilizing state institutions for partisan advantage.
During the summit, Atiku also questioned the authenticity of the certificate President Tinubu submitted to the electoral commission, citing reported discrepancies associated with Chicago State University.
