Donald Trump Calls Irish Unification Inevitable During Dublin Visit

President Donald Trump stated that the unification of Ireland and Northern Ireland is inevitable during a diplomatic visit to Dublin. In a private meeting at Áras an Uachtaráin, Trump asked President Catherine Connolly if she believed unification would occur during her lifetime. Connolly responded by referencing the Irish constitution and the 1998 Good Friday Agreement to emphasize that any such resolution must be based on consent.

In subsequent public remarks at Farmleigh House and the U.S. Ambassador's residence, Trump described the prospect of a unified Ireland as fantastic and cool, adding that while the United Kingdom would have an opinion on the matter, it is going to happen eventually. Beyond the issue of unification, the two leaders discussed genocide and the normalization of war.

Following the visit, President Connolly defended the right of her sister, Dr. Margaret Connolly, to protest the U.S. president's trip. Dr. Connolly had used aggressive rhetoric regarding the bombing of Gaza and the White House during her demonstrations.
