Donald Trump Funds ICE Expansion and War Against Iran
President Donald Trump launched a war against Iran and expanded ICE while redirecting federal aid and research funds toward billionaire tax cuts.
President Donald Trump initiated a war against Iran during his second term, resulting in an estimated 3,500 Iranian and 4,300 Lebanese deaths. While a ceasefire currently exists between the United States and Iran, Trump continues to threaten the complete destruction of the nation.
To fund his military and domestic agendas, Trump redirected money from scientific research, the US Agency for International Development, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to finance tax cuts for billionaires. He also sought 1.5 trillion dollars for the United States Department of Defense and expanded the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency by a factor of nine.
These policies have contributed to hyperinflation and a volatile job market. In response, record-breaking anti-Trump and anti-ICE protests have occurred, including demonstrations at Delaney Hall. The administration's actions and the ongoing conflict in Gaza have drawn condemnation from figures such as Tucker Carlson and various factions within the Democratic Party.
