Rob Jetten Negotiates With Donald Trump Over ASML Export Bans

Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten met with US President Donald Trump in New York to negotiate the prevention of new export restrictions on ASML Holding NV. The discussions centered on the proposed MATCH Act, which seeks to prohibit the sale of deep ultraviolet (DUV) immersion lithography machines to China, expanding existing bans on extreme ultraviolet (EUV) machines.

Jetten expressed confidence that the two nations will reach a workable agreement to protect the semiconductor industry. ASML Holding, Europe's most valuable company and the sole producer of EUV machines, faces significant operational risks if the US implements these broader curbs.

During his visit, Jetten also addressed the conflict in Ukraine, calling for increased sanctions against the Russian Federation to compel President Vladimir Putin to enter peace negotiations. He specifically criticized the recent removal of certain Russian individuals from sanctions lists.
