Nyesom Wike Denies Lobbying for APC Campaign Leadership Role

Minister Nyesom Wike denied reports that he is lobbying to become the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 elections.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike denied media reports claiming he is lobbying to become the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 reelection bid. In a statement released Monday through his Senior Special Assistant, Lere Olayinka, Wike described the claims as false fabrications.

Wike stated he has not discussed leadership or membership of the council with anyone. Despite the denial, he reaffirmed his unflinching support for President Tinubu, asserting that he does not require a formal position within the APC campaign structure to ensure the president wins by wide margins in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory.

Wike, who remains a leader in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, noted that his current focus is the delivery of the Renewed Hope Agenda through infrastructure development. The denial came while Wike was outside Nigeria on a break following a month of inspecting and commissioning projects.
