Angela Paxton Urges Texas Voters to Support Republican Ticket
State Senator Angela Paxton urged Texas voters to support all Republican candidates to prevent Democratic gains despite her ongoing divorce from Senate candidate Ken Paxton.
Republican state senator Angela Paxton released an advertisement urging Texas voters to support the entire Republican ticket in the upcoming general election. Speaking to the Texas Federation of Republican Women on September 18, she told voters to focus on the "whole team" rather than "individual players" to prevent Democrats from winning seats in the state.
Paxton acknowledged that some candidates on the ballot have "vulnerabilities" that have been "particularly alienating to women." Her call for party unity comes while she is divorcing her husband, U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton, over allegations of adultery.
Ken Paxton is currently trailing Democratic opponent James Talarico in recent polling. Despite a history of scandals, including a fraud indictment and impeachment on bribery and abuse of office charges, Ken Paxton has denied wrongdoing. National Republican groups, which previously withheld funding, have recently begun spending tens of millions of dollars to support his campaign.
