Donald Trump Endorses Darline Graham in South Carolina Senate Runoff

President Donald Trump hosted a 20-minute tele-rally on Monday, August 25, to endorse U.S. Senator Darline Graham ahead of a Republican primary runoff in South Carolina. Trump stated that he personally recruited Graham and asserted that she fully supports his agenda. Graham, a former state bureaucrat appointed by Governor Henry McMaster to replace her late brother, Lindsey Graham, is competing against Representative Ralph Norman.

During the rally, Graham defended her lack of political experience and criticized Norman's record. However, Graham faced scrutiny during a separate press conference on Monday when she declined to state whether she believes the 2020 presidential election was stolen. When asked if Joe Biden was lawfully elected and if she would have voted to certify the results, Graham responded that the election system is "broken" and ignored follow-up questions.

Graham also drew criticism for admitting she is not well-informed on national security issues, specifically regarding the importance of Taiwan to the United States. The winner of the runoff will face Democratic nominee Annie Andrews in the November midterms. The race is viewed as a test of Trump's endorsement power following recent losses by other candidates he has backed in Republican primaries.
