Sid Miller Demands Resignation of Texas GOP Chair After Losses

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller called for Chair D'Rinda Randall's resignation after Republicans lost every statewide race and control of the Texas House.

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller demanded the immediate resignation of Republican Party of Texas Chair D’Rinda Randall following a historic election defeat on Tuesday. Republicans lost every statewide race on the ballot, including the Governor's Mansion and all statewide executive offices, as well as control of the State Board of Education and the Texas House of Representatives. The loss in the House puts the chamber on course to elect its first Democratic Speaker since 2003.

Miller characterized the results as a "political catastrophe" and a "massacre," alleging that party leadership ignored critical voter concerns. He specifically claimed that Randall prioritized social issues over rural voter anger regarding data centers, 765-kV transmission lines, and government surveillance via Flock cameras. Miller also noted that Governor Greg Abbott refused requests to temporarily suspend the state motor fuels tax to provide taxpayer relief.

Despite the losses, Miller maintains that Texas remains a conservative state with conservative values. He plans to travel across the state to listen to citizens and work to rebuild the trust the party has lost.
