Senator Bernie Moreno Demands Max Miller Resign Over Abuse Claims

U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno has demanded the resignation of his former son-in-law, Representative Max Miller, asserting that the congressman is a danger to his family and lacks the character required for public office. The demand follows allegations from Emily Moreno, who claims Miller physically abused her and their two-year-old daughter. These claims include incidents of Miller throwing scalding water on Emily, holding a gun to her head, and causing a broken collarbone in their daughter.

Max Miller has categorically denied the allegations in a video statement and through the release of records, characterizing the claims as politically motivated. He has filed a defamation lawsuit against Emily Moreno and her lawyer, attributing the accusations to her mental health challenges. Further complications emerged as former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham alleged that Miller abused her in a previous relationship and filed a lawsuit claiming he violated a confidential settlement.

President Donald Trump stated he would look into the matter but noted that the claims are currently accusations. House Speaker Mike Johnson defended the House Ethics Committee's process for handling such allegations. Despite pressure from Senator Moreno and Democratic lawmakers, Miller vowed to remain in his reelection race for Ohio's 7th Congressional District. The controversy has led some political analysts to downgrade the seat's status from Solid Republican to Likely or Leans Republican ahead of the November election.
