Narendra Modi Attends Dussehra Celebrations Amid Heavy Delhi Security

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended Dussehra celebrations and the Ravana Dahan ceremony at Utsav Ground in IP Extension, East Delhi, on October 20, 2026. To secure the event, authorities established a three-layer cordon involving approximately 2,500 personnel from the Delhi Police and central armed paramilitary forces.

The Special Protection Group managed the innermost security ring, while the Delhi Police Prime Minister Security Wing handled the middle layer and local police secured the outer perimeter. Security operations included the deployment of SWAT commandos, drones, sniffer dogs, and anti-sabotage checks.

Across the broader Delhi-NCR region, more than 13,000 police personnel were deployed to manage various festivities, including events at the Red Fort and the burning of a 221-foot effigy in Dwarka. The Delhi Traffic Police implemented extensive diversions and restrictions throughout East, South, and Central Delhi, as well as Dwarka, to accommodate VVIP movement and large crowds.
