Dele Momodu Criticizes Bola Tinubu's Independence Day Speech
Dele Momodu criticized President Bola Tinubu for turning Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary into a day of lamentation through a controversial cancer analogy.
Political chieftain and Ovation Magazine publisher Dele Momodu criticized President Bola Tinubu following a nationwide broadcast for Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1. Momodu argued that the President's address turned a day of celebration into a "day of lamentation."
The dispute centered on Tinubu's use of a medical analogy, in which he described Nigeria as a cancer patient that had relied on painkillers under previous administrations before he arrived as a "celebrated surgeon." Momodu challenged this characterization, asserting that Nigeria likely suffered from "stage-two cancer" at most when Tinubu assumed power.
Momodu further claimed that poverty, insecurity, and national debt have increased under the current administration while politicians remain insensitive to the plight of the citizens.
