Donald Trump Implements Naval Blockade on Iranian Ports

President Donald Trump implemented a naval blockade on the busiest sea ports of Iran to intensify economic pressure on the Islamic Republic. This action follows a military campaign involving United States and Israeli bombing strikes that began in late February, which destroyed key infrastructure and resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and thousands of civilians.

The combined effect of the military strikes and the blockade has triggered a severe economic crisis. Iran is facing nearly 80% inflation and a 30% currency devaluation this year, leading the International Monetary Fund to project a 6.1% shrinkage of the national economy. In Tehran and other cities, the collapse of purchasing power has forced citizens to rely on installment plans and interest-free credit to afford basic groceries.

To bypass the isolation, the Iranian government has attempted to pivot its oil exports toward China. Despite the mounting economic hardship, hardline clerics have resisted diplomatic solutions. Interim Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Arafi demanded that officials cease all negotiations with the United States, arguing that economic fears should not justify continued diplomacy.
