Advocates Urge Voter Turnout Ahead of U.S. Midterms
Voter advocates and security experts are calling for increased participation and ballot security as the United States approaches its midterm elections.
Advocates and security experts are urging U.S. citizens to participate in the upcoming midterm elections, with a specific focus on increasing turnout among Generation Z. Carter Hass noted that only half of eligible Gen Z adults voted in 2024, highlighting a need for greater engagement from young voters.
Critics of the current administration, including Dianne Vona, have used the lead-up to the elections to challenge the policies of Donald Trump. Vona alleges the administration has weaponized the Department of Justice, implemented policies from Project 2025, and initiated a costly war in Iran. She further claims the government is expanding surveillance technology through Project Jupiter in New Mexico and that the Department of Government Efficiency has cut USAID funding.
To ensure election integrity, Elliott Greenblott of the AARP Fraud Watch Network warned voters against returning ballots via unlocked home mailboxes to avoid theft by "mailboxers." Greenblott recommends using official drop boxes or voting in person. This guidance follows a Supreme Court of the United States decision that allows the unhampered use of the United States Postal Service for ballot returns.
