Trump Claims U.S. Stopped Iran From Obtaining Nuclear Weapon
President Donald Trump announced the war with Iran will end soon and claimed B-2 bomber strikes prevented Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
President Donald Trump announced Friday that the seven-month war with Iran will end soon, asserting that U.S. B-2 bomber strikes prevented Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. Trump claimed Iran had been weeks away from a nuclear capability that would have targeted the United States and Israel.
Trump predicted a decrease in fuel prices following the implementation of a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz and the removal of 28 million barrels of oil. While he expressed openness to direct negotiations, he rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days, stating that he rejects their proposal because it is unclear who is running the country.
The president ruled out further military strikes against Iran before the November 3 midterm elections. This escalation follows a failed June ceasefire agreement between Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
