Israeli Settlers Attack West Bank Village and Injure Officers

More than 100 Israeli settlers attacked the West Bank village of Jalud on Tuesday, setting fire to the homes of the Tubasi family. The assault occurred as the Israeli military attempted to escort the family back to their property following a high court ruling ordering the eviction of settlers who had seized the homes. Settlers overwhelmed the small military escort, forcing the family to seek refuge on their roof before they were evacuated in armored vehicles.

During the clash, three Israeli security officers were injured. The Israeli Defense Forces detained two suspects following the incident. The event has triggered an internal Israeli debate regarding the military's loss of control in the West Bank, with some critics characterizing the assault as a terrorist attack and a failure of the defense establishment.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the violent riots but stated that the rioters are not representative of the law-abiding settler public. President Isaac Herzog described the attack as a moral stain. The International Committee of the Red Cross stated that such violence has made Palestinian life untenable, with delegation head Julien Lerisson demanding an end to the frequent and severe violence.
