US and Iran Exchange Strikes Amid Kharg Island Tension

The United States and Iran have entered a cycle of military strikes across the Middle East, following reports that Donald Trump is reviewing an offensive campaign to seize Kharg Island and strike the Pickaxe Mountain nuclear facility. Iran has responded by fortifying the island, which handles 90 percent of its crude oil exports, and warning of severe repercussions for any ground invasion.

Conflict escalated as US Central Command conducted strikes against Iranian military command centers, missile sites, and air defense systems, including an attack on the under-construction Darkhoveyn nuclear power plant in Khuzestan Province. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps retaliated by targeting US radar and communication systems in Bahrain and Kuwait, specifically hitting the Ali Al Salem and Ahmad Al Jaber air bases. While mediators from Qatar and Pakistan have proposed a 10-day ceasefire to prevent total escalation, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei stated that the US would face unforgettable lessons. Simultaneously, the Houthis declared a maritime embargo against Saudi Arabia in retaliation for a long-term siege on Yemen.
