Christian Association of Nigeria Urges Tinubu to Lower Living Costs
The Christian Association of Nigeria called on President Bola Tinubu to translate economic statistics into tangible relief for citizens during Nigeria's 66th Independence anniversary.
The Christian Association of Nigeria urged the administration of President Bola Tinubu to ensure national economic recovery provides observable relief to citizens during the country's 66th Independence anniversary. In a statement issued by President Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the organization argued that economic progress cannot be measured by statistics alone, but must be reflected in the affordability of food, energy, and transportation.
CAN called for strengthened social protections in healthcare and education, alongside sustained security measures to allow citizens to farm and trade without fear. The association emphasized that prosperity is incomplete if it does not reach ordinary Nigerian homes, particularly those facing prolonged economic hardship.
Looking toward the 2027 political season, the organization warned political actors against using Christianity as a political weapon. Specifically, the association cautioned against presenting candidates as messiahs or using the name of Jesus Christ for political gain.
