Trump Regilds Arts of War and Peace Statues in D.C.

President Donald Trump directed the regilding of the Arts of War and Arts of Peace equestrian statues in Washington, D.C., as part of a broader effort to beautify the capital during his second presidency. The bronze sculptures, which flank the entrances to the Arlington Memorial Bridge near the Lincoln Memorial, revealed their new gold finishes this week as scaffolding was removed.

The restoration was executed by the Maryland-based company Gilders' Studio, which was awarded a $5.1 million contract by the National Park Service in April. While scaffolding has been removed from the statues, the National Park Service stated that renovation work will continue through September 30. To facilitate the remaining project phases, certain areas surrounding the statues have been temporarily closed to the public.
