President Bola Tinubu Secures Key Support for 2027 Re-election
President Bola Tinubu gained strategic endorsements from the All Progressives Grand Alliance and APC leaders across Anambra, Akwa Ibom, and Abia states ahead of the 2027 elections.
President Bola Tinubu secured significant political momentum for the 2027 general elections through a series of strategic endorsements and campaign rallies across southern Nigeria. In Anambra State, Governor Chukwuma Soludo announced that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) would adopt Tinubu as its preferred candidate, pledging to deliver at least 50 percent of the state's votes. Soludo argued that supporting the president is necessary for the South-East to maintain a strong negotiating position with the federal government for regional development.
During a presidential rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, Senate President Godswill Akpabio pledged to deliver over two million votes for the president. Tinubu attributed this support to his administration's approval of the Ibom Deep Seaport project and education interventions like NELFUND. Vice President Kashim Shettima used the event to urge voters to reject opposition candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
In Abia State, APC governorship candidate Eric Opah further bolstered the president's campaign by publicly endorsing his re-election. While denying rumors of alliances with other candidates for his own gubernatorial bid, Opah emphasized his intent to run on an APC platform focused on reforming the tax regime and improving healthcare. Together, these developments signal a coordinated effort by the ruling party and regional allies to consolidate power in the South-East and South-South regions.
