Narendra Modi Warns Global Supply Chains Are Being Weaponized
Prime Minister Narendra Modi warns that global trade and technology systems have become tools for coercion and positions India as a trusted alternative.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned that global interconnected systems, including trade, technology, and supply chains, have transitioned from tools of unity into instruments of coercion. Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi on Tuesday, Modi argued that the world currently faces a crisis of trust regarding the reliability of supplies during times of need.
Modi identified supply chains, energy, critical minerals, payments, and technology as specific areas where globalization has created choke points. He attributed this global deficit of trust and confidence to a cycle of overlapping crises, including a global pandemic and regional wars.
Positioning India as a global alternative, Modi asserted that the country operates with a different mindset and thought process to offer confidence to the international community. He emphasized a commitment to progress that involves moving ahead together with all partners.
