Narendra Modi to Inaugurate Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station Redevelopment
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 125 crore modernization of Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station on July 17.
Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the redevelopment of the 110-year-old Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station on July 17. The modernization project, completed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at an approximate cost of 125 crore rupees, aims to transform the facility into a world-class passenger hub while preserving its architectural heritage and local cultural ethos.
Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh conducted site reviews on July 8 and July 9 with senior officials from the Ferozepur Division. During these visits, Singh inspected passenger amenities and directed officials to ensure the highest standards of safety and security for the prime ministerial visit.
The upgrades include a double-height air concourse, heavy steel platform roofing, two new foot-over bridges, a second entry, and a parking area covering 4,855 square meters. These improvements are designed to serve the station's average daily footfall of 7,500 passengers, including those using Vande Bharat Express trains.
