Governor Fubara Pledges 3 Million Votes for President Tinubu
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara pledged to deliver three million votes for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election during a campaign rally in Port Harcourt.
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara pledged to mobilize at least three million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections during a campaign rally at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt. Fubara endorsed the APC-PDP Rainbow Coalition, a cross-party alliance led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike that supports a shared slate of candidates, including APC member Kingsley Chinda for governor.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commended Fubara for his maturity and commitment to democracy in resolving a political crisis that began in October 2023 between Fubara and Wike. The conflict had previously led Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in March 2025, which resulted in Fubara's six-month suspension. During the rally, Tinubu told Fubara he would not regret his decision to pursue reconciliation.
While the coalition aims for a decisive victory for the president, the arrangement has caused friction within the All Progressives Congress, as some party leaders oppose supporting non-APC candidates for legislative and governorship seats. During the event, Tinubu also praised Wike's infrastructure work and criticized the moral integrity of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
