Allied Peoples Movement Launches 2027 Presidential Campaign in Abuja
The Allied Peoples Movement inaugurated its presidential campaign committee in Abuja to support the candidacy of Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde and Lawal Daura for the 2027 election.
The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation inaugurated its campaign committee in Abuja on October 7, 2026, to support the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidacy of Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde and Lawal Daura for the 2027 general elections.
Vice presidential candidate Lawal Daura, a former Director-General of the Department of State Services, warned that those attempting to rig the election "have a surprise coming." Daura noted that the voter register has exceeded 103 million people and set a target to secure a significant portion of the electorate. While one report suggested a goal of two-fifths of the voters, Daura later announced a target of at least two-thirds of the registered electorate through legal compliance and canvassing.
Campaign Director-General Felix Hyat urged Nigerians, particularly youth in the North, to reject the All Progressives Congress and replace President Bola Tinubu with Makinde. Hyat argued that while the South-west should complete an eight-year tenure, Tinubu is a "wrong product" who has failed the country. He called for Northern support of a Southern presidency to maintain national unity through power rotation.
To coordinate national efforts, the campaign appointed a management team including Inna Ciroma and Anthony Aziegbemi, working alongside APM leaders Bala Mohammed and Yusuf Dantalle.
