Nvidia Reports Fiscal 2027 Q1 Earnings Amid AI Boom
Nvidia reports first-quarter fiscal 2027 results with projected revenue growth of 79% as it faces rising competition from AMD and custom cloud chips.
Nvidia scheduled its first-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings release for May 20, 2026, with analysts projecting revenue between $78.75 billion and $79.12 billion. The company expects significant growth, with projected revenue increases of 79% and adjusted profits rising to $42.97 billion for the April quarter, driven by massive AI infrastructure spending from Microsoft, Meta, Alphabet, and Amazon.
To maintain its 92% share of the data center GPU market, the company acquired the inference-focused startup Groq and unveiled new central processors. CEO Jensen Huang forecasted $1 trillion in revenue from Blackwell and Vera Rubin processors through 2027. However, the company faces headwinds including U.S. trade restrictions and a total loss of market share in China as that country prioritizes domestic processors.
Competition is intensifying in the inference market from traditional rivals like Advanced Micro Devices and Intel, as well as custom chip efforts from Alphabet and Amazon. AMD is ramping up production of MI450 GPUs in late 2026 and launching a rack-scale server system. This broader demand has benefited foundry partner TSMC, which plans to increase 2-nanometer production capacity at a 70% compound annual growth rate through 2028. Simultaneously, Broadcom expects its custom AI chip revenue to reach $100 billion or more by 2027.
