Germany and Nvidia Plan Industrial AI Cooperation Agreement
The German government plans to sign a multi-million euro agreement with Nvidia to integrate artificial intelligence into German industry and self-driving vehicle development.
The Federal Government of Germany plans to sign a wide-ranging cooperation agreement with U.S. chip maker Nvidia to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence across German industry. The deal, which involves investments totaling hundreds of millions of euros, is expected to be announced next week at the Invest in Germany conference in Berlin.
The partnership focuses on two primary objectives: the creation of physical AI tools for robot training and self-driving vehicles, and the development of high-performance AI models for industrial applications. Central to this agreement is the Sovereign Open Source Foundation Models (SOOFI) project, a German initiative launched last year to build large AI models through partnerships between research institutions, universities, and AI companies.
This collaboration aligns with previous German government commitments to expand AI capacity to strengthen the digital sovereignty of Europe. Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang is scheduled to attend the conference in Berlin for the announcement.
