ADC Accuses Kwankwaso of Aiding Tinubu After Atiku Withdrawal Call

The African Democratic Congress accused Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of aiding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after Kwankwaso urged Atiku Abubakar to exit the 2027 race.

The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) accused Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of working to advance the political interests of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The dispute began after Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, appeared in a Channels Television interview and called for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to step down from the 2027 presidential race in favor of Peter Obi.

Kola Ologbondiyan, Director of Media and Publicity for the ADC-PCC, condemned the call as "reckless" and "self-serving." Ologbondiyan argued that the move is a strategy to sow division among opposition leaders and suggested that Kwankwaso is prioritizing his own ambitions for the 2031 presidential election over the immediate goal of unseating the current administration.

Addressing the electoral impact, Ologbondiyan asserted that Atiku Abubakar, the ADC's presidential candidate, could win Kano State without Kwankwaso's support, citing historical precedents from 2003 and 2007. The ADC-PCC maintains that such political maneuvers are designed to rescue an unpopular administration by distracting the opposition.
