Democratic-aligned groups have launched an aggressive advertising campaign against Collins. Win Senate spent 32 million dollars on advertisements, while Affordable Maine spent nearly 10 million dollars targeting her judicial appointments. Planned Parenthood, which endorsed Jackson, spent at least 500,000 dollars on ads criticizing the senator. Collins, who identifies as a pro-choice Republican, maintains that Kavanaugh previously described Roe as settled law.
Jackson has secured endorsements from Reproductive Freedom for All and Planned Parenthood, though he has faced scrutiny over his own evolving views on same-sex marriage and abortion rights. While reproductive rights remain a central campaign theme, recent polling suggests Maine voters may prioritize economic concerns over abortion access, particularly as Governor Janet Mills has already enacted state laws protecting abortion and gender-affirming care providers.
