Kemi Badenoch Demands Welfare Cuts to Boost Defense Spending

Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch accused Prime Minister Andy Burnham of failing to properly fund national defense while Russia increases its aggression. The debate follows warnings from former military chiefs Admiral Lord West and Lord Dannatt, who described the state of the military as parlous and accused the government of playing fast and loose with security. While the UK has pledged to commit 3.5% of national income to defense by 2035, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office maintains that Russia's hybrid attacks are unacceptable attempts to distract from the invasion of Ukraine.
