Donald Trump Expresses Uncertainty Over Meeting Kim Jong-un
President Donald Trump stated he is unsure if a meeting with Kim Jong-un will occur during his upcoming trip to China.
President Donald Trump expressed uncertainty on Monday regarding a potential meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during an upcoming visit to China. Trump is scheduled to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Shenzhen on November 18-19.
While Trump stated he was unsure if any requests for a meeting had been made, he emphasized that he maintains a very good relationship with Kim. This follows statements made in August in which Trump expressed hope for a meeting before the end of the year.
A spokesperson for the United States Department of State clarified that the administration does not view talks with North Korea as a concession. The department stated that Trump remains willing to engage with Pyongyang provided such interactions serve U.S. national interests.
