Nigerian Leaders Call for Peace During Eid-el-Maulud Celebrations

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima congratulated Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud on August 25, 2026. President Tinubu urged the faithful to use the celebration for introspection and to adopt virtues such as devotion, perseverance, and humility. He specifically called on religious leaders to pray for the country to combat insecurity and other national afflictions, while encouraging citizens to support the vulnerable.

Vice-President Shettima issued a separate message calling for a renewed commitment to compassion and service. He urged Nigerians to reject hatred and division to build a nation where people of all faiths can coexist with mutual respect.

At the state level, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State called for peace and stability, urging youths to celebrate responsibly to maintain harmony. Simultaneously, the Peoples Democratic Party urged Nigerians to apply teachings of justice and honesty to address social divisions. The party called for divine guidance for public office holders to ensure equity and good governance across the country.
