Buba Galadima Accuses APC of Bribing Opposition for 2027

Buba Galadima alleges the APC-led government is bribing opposition candidates and obstructing campaigns to ensure unopposed victories in the 2027 general elections.

Nigeria Democratic Congress chieftain Buba Galadima accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government of attempting to dismantle the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking on Arise Television, Galadima alleged that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is offering bribes to opposition politicians to withdraw from various races. He claimed state assembly candidates were offered ₦50 million, House of Representatives candidates ₦200 million, Senate candidates over ₦500 million, and governorship candidates over ₦2 billion to allow APC candidates to run unopposed.

Galadima characterized the current political climate as fascism or dictatorship, asserting that the government is violating constitutional rights to free speech and movement. He reported that opposition candidates face physical attacks and are being stoned in certain areas, making free campaigning impossible. He further argued that the Electoral Act's N10 billion campaign spending limit is unrealistic due to exorbitant advertising costs, citing reports that single billboards in Abuja or Imo State can cost N1 billion.

Additionally, Galadima claimed that federal appointments and development projects are distributed unevenly across the country. He defended former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai against alleged persecution by the current administration and cited a secret study by a British-Polish company suggesting that Peter Obi would win a free and fair 2027 presidential election.
